Golden Globes 2010 - Winning in the Rain

The umbrella was the new must-have for this year's Golden Globe Ceremony on the Beverly Hilton red carpet last night.

Sure, it made hair a little frizzy, dresses a little wet, but that did not stop Sandra Bullock to win the BEST PERFORMANCE IN A MOTION PICTURE for The Blind Side, or Robert Downey Jr.,best actor for Sherlock Holmes.

But we're here to talk about the dresses. Pale nudes were almost as popular as the black ones. Nicole Kidman kicked off the ceremony in silk Nina Ricci, Emily Blunt looked regal in Dolce & Gabbana, and Drew Barrymore took the stage in Atelier Versace—with one very dramatic shoulder.

Black dresses made a strong showing as well. Courteney Cox Arquette selected a Victoria Beckham, Penélope Cruz poured herself into vintage Armani Privé, January Jones accessorized her satin Lanvin with a matching headband—it worked—and Sophia Loren was as movie-star glamorous as ever in her hourglass black frock.

And then, there are the electric ones. Red, purple, neon, were few and not that interesting this year. Except for the "Avatar's" Zoe Saldana in her ruffled Louis Vuitton which, in my opinion, was very cute. And there's Sandra Bullock which was great in her Bottega Veneta dress, but without the flashing light of the cameras, which made the dress look a little chintzy.
