Lanvin Fall - shake it mama!

A little black dress with a ruffled collar accessorized with scads of pearls was cut in a stretchy scuba fabric (a callback to September), and everything from a gray rib-knit sweater (worn with an ivory washed silk floor-length skirt) to a tailored jacket (the top half of a 1950's wool flannel skirtsuit) came oversized and easy.

Mr. Popper's Penguins (2011)

Another lovely penguin movie!  Can't wait for the premiere!

The story revolves around Mr. Popper (Jim Carrey), a house painter whose real passion is exploring the Arctic, although he has no means to do so. After writing letters to real Arctic explorers, one of them sends him a penguin. When another female penguin arrives from the zoo, they mate and Popper now has 12 penguins on his hands. He forms a stage act with the penguins dubbed ‘Popper’s Performing Penguins’ that goes on tour and features the animals causing mayhem at every stop.

Sex and the City 2

I was so happy to finally see that the Sex and the City 2 trailer came out! I've been watching them for years and have been waiting for the second movie for whats seemed like forever. The preview and the fashions look like its going to be even better than the first (you won't even believe what ex-boyfriend Carrie runs into)! So here's a quick peak at the trailer !

Alicia Keys performs a cover of Blondie's 1980s classic "Rapture." And it's not just any cover, it's a mash-up with the iconic Sex and the City theme song that's played during the movie's opening theme. Even the stars of the movie are on the soundtrack with Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristen Davis and Cynthia Nixon performing the Helen Reddy karaoke favorite, "I Am Woman." As you may have already heard, Liza Minnelli covers Beyoncé's "Single Ladies" as well as a new rendition of Cole Porter's "Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye."

I'm so looking forward to this movie! A girls' night out, a dinner and a movie! Yey!

Different Scents for Different Gents

You probably have noticed that lately I have posted a series of commercials for Old Spice that I find both very funny and interesting. This is the last one. I hope you have enjoyed them. I surely did! :)

Avatar Syndrome

I finally watched AVATAR in 3D this past weekend and I have to say, I loved it! I need to watch it again before the movie goes off the big screen! If you’re thinking about waiting for it on DVD or watching a bootleg version, I advise you not to. This movie needs to be watched in full effect, 3D for sure!

James Cameron has been developing this movie since after Titanic in 1997, that’s 12 years! Why did it take so long? At the time he wanted to make the movie there were technical difficulties that got in the way of his vision. According to the Daily Mail, for the movie, he co-developed a new generation of stereoscopic cameras. Simplified, this is the equivalent of two cameras strapped together, each providing a slightly different perspective on the scene, mimicking the way human eyes view the world in three dimensions. I’m not going to get too geeky because I can and will, so you’ll just have to watch it yourself.

I was already impressed once I heard that, so I knew it was a must see movie plus all his movies are good. The movie was beyond fascinating, brings the mind into a magical world and it made me want to go there. At first the blue skin Na’vi aliens looked weird, but after a while of looking at them they started to look beautiful especially when the skin sparkles at night. The storyline follows the future battle between Earth and Pandora, a ‘terrifyingly beautiful’ world full of strange creatures and rich minerals. The love story between Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) was beautiful.

AVATAR is definitely nothing you’ve seen before!

Do you want 1 million dollars?

I got sick! Very sick! I caught the flue and now I feel horrible. Instead of enjoying  the day  of St Nicolas I have to stay inside and drink as much hot liquids as I can.

Yesterday, in the eager of feeling better and getting out of the house we went to see a movie. The Box.

The idea of the movie is absolutely ingenious. What if one day, someone will come to you saying that if you press a certain button you will be given 1 million dollars, tax free?! But what's the catch? because there's definitely a catch. The consequences are the act that one person in this world, one that you've never seen before, will die. What do you chose? Probably you will chose the money, or probably you wont. Who knows what the answer will be? Do you know yourself that well in order to give yourself a sincere answer? Or how much do you 'know' the persons you think you 'know'?

I definitely won't chose the money, and not because I saw the movie but because you don't know who will die and because. It could be a mother, some one's son, a life savior or it could be a serial criminal. You can be responsible for the murder of a innocent person or of one who deserves this. But who are we to decide that?

On the other hand, how comforting are the words: "...don't worry, you don't know the person" when each person is 'unknown' to millions of others?

I know I won't chose the money also because I don't believe in easy earning money. No one gives you 1 million dollars 'that easy'. I would think that there's a more profound reason to this proposal.

After the movie, we saw a concert of Paula Seling, a wonderful Christmas Carols singer and hanged around in the mall. Christmas was all over, starting with the carols and ending with the Christmas trees and the polar bears.

I will end my post with two more songs of Paula Seling that I love.

Movies to see in a lifetime

This is a short list of movies that are close to my heart for different reasons. For me they are timeles and I warmly recommend them. I'll try to write once in a while posts with my all time favorite movies, becouse I enjoy watching movies a lot and have a very long list of favorites.

"Life is like a box of chocolates... you never know what you're gonna get."

The day I met my husband, he wore a t-shirt that said: "Stupid is as stupid does!", which was Forest's favorite remark. So, beside being a great movie it became special to me maybe for this reason too, and maybe this is why it is on top of my list. After a short while  I saw the movie and it became my all time favorite. The world will never be the same once you've seen it through the eyes of Forrest Gump.

"At least you'll never be a vegetable - even artichokes have hearts."

Amelie, an innocent and naive girl in Paris, with her own sense of justice, decides to help those around her and along the way, discovers love. Like Forest, Amelie has her own way of seeing the world and her own ways of dealing with things. She likes to look for things no one else catches. I love Amelie for her ingenuity, cuteness, selflessness and sence of adventure.

"Buon giorno, Principessa!"

An unforgettable fable that proves love, family and imagination conquer all. This is the most wonderful story about love, courage, inner strength, a father's struggle to protect his child and the power to treat tragic situation with humor and hope. This is one of the movies I have cried a river.

"Sometimes The Simplest Idea Can Make The Biggest Difference."

Pay It Forward is a prime example of what films are supposed to do: make you laugh a little, cry a lot, and profoundly affect you in a way that keeps you thinking about the movie for weeks afterwards. It is not only a moving, inspiring and heart driven story but everybody who sees this film stops for a moment or more and think over the meaning of life.  Have a box of tissues handy. Or two.

"Stealin' Stones and Breakin' Bones "

Unscrupulous boxing promoters, violent bookmakers, a Russian gangster, incompetent amateur robbers, and supposedly Jewish jewelers fight to track down a priceless stolen diamond. This movie is smart, funny and has just the right touches of dark humour. The cast is great, top class actors, great performance, especially Pitt's, which was brilliant. I really love the way it was filmed and that every single actor in `Snatch' looks like they are having one hell of a good time working in the film. This story, while complex and with many ramifications from the core plot is absolutely brilliant and a lot of fun.

"71% of the Earth's surface is covered by water. That's a lot of space to find one fish."

I am Nemo's no. 1 Fan! I really am! I love animated motion pictures in general, but Nemo has a special place in my top; and in my heart.
It's a brilliantly animated masterpiece with lots of humor and a plot that really brings tears to your eyes from time to time. There are 3.7 trillion fish in the ocean and they're looking for one. For Nemo. No matter if you're 9 or 99 years old, Finding Nemo will bring a smile on your face and leave behind a warm feeling in your heart.
