Mens sana in corpore sano

3. Relaxarea
Iti ajuta corpul sa isi revina dupa efortul depus.

The Moss

She’s a model, a fashion designer, a style icon and a party girl - Kate Moss covers all aspects of the spectrum. She’s known for her distinctive figure, her celebrity friends and drugs scandal.

Her appearance on over 300 magazine covers all began when she was discovered at the age of 14 by Storm Model Management and became known as the “anti-model” of the 90’s as she contrasted supermodels such as Claudia Schiffer and Naomi Campbell, who were known for their curvaceous and tall figures.

She quickly charmed the fashion industry and soon became the face of Rimmel as well as supporting campaigns by major designers such as Gucci, Dolce and Gabbana, Versace, Roberto Cavalli and Dior. This led to her appeaance in British Women’s Sunday Times Rich List in 2007, where she was estimated to be worth £45 million and ranked as the 99th richest woman in Britain.

In 2007, Moss decided that being a model and a party girl was simply not enough to keep her busy and on May 1st she launched her own collection in 255 Topshop stores. This spring she lounched another collection for Topshop, with a more fluid and floral design, for young women that she inspires all over the world.

From folk inspired pieces reminiscent of 1970s Woodstock to suede styles that personify the rock n’ roll spirit of Kate’s wardrobe, her latest Topshop collection reflects her aclectic take and dressing with iconic looks for every ocassion.

May 2009 - Calendar of Fashion Events

1. NY Costume Institute Gala, May 4

Metropolitan Museum's Costume Institute Explores Role of Fashion Models as Muses of Recent Eras

  • Gala Benefit May 4, 2009, with Honorary Chair Marc Jacobs and Co-Chairs Kate Moss, Justin Timberlake, and Anna Wintour
  • Exhibition dates: May 6–August 9, 2009
  • Exhibition location: The Tisch Galleries, second floor

The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion, the spring 2009 exhibition organized by The Costume Institute of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, will explore the reciprocal relationship between high fashion and evolving ideals of beauty, focusing on iconic fashion models in the latter half of the 20th century and their roles in projecting, and sometimes inspiring, the fashion of their respective eras. The exhibition will be on view at the Metropolitan from May 6 through August 9, 2009.

The exhibition is made possible by Marc Jacobs.

Additional support is provided by Condé Nast.

"The exhibition will examine a timeline of fashion from 1947 to 1997 through the idealized aesthetic of the fashion model," said Harold Koda, Curator in Charge of The Costume Institute. "We will look at the power of clothing, fashion photography, and the model to project the look of an era. With a mere gesture, a truly stellar model can sum up the attitude of her time – becoming not only a muse to designers or photographers, but a muse to a generation."

To celebrate the opening of the exhibition, the Museum's Costume Institute Gala Benefit will take place on Monday, May 4, 2009. Marc Jacobs will serve as Honorary Chair of the Gala. Co-Chairs are Kate Moss; Justin Timberlake; and Anna Wintour, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue. This fundraising event is The Costume Institute's main source of annual funding for exhibitions, acquisitions, and capital improvements.

2. Cannes Film Festival, May 13-24

For 12 days in May the city of Cannes is transformed from a quiet seaside resort into the entire focus of the international film industry. Over 200,000 people - filmmakers, film fans, and star-gazers alike - descend on the Croisette to take part in the Cannes Film Festival (or more correctly, the Festival de Cannes). During these two weeks thousands of films are screened, careers are made (and ruined), and stars from all over the world gather to bask in the limelight. Ever since the early 1950s, when a bikini-clad Brigitte Bardot frolicked on the beach for the cameras, Cannes has grown to embody two of the world's favourite pastimes: sex and cinema. Now easily the most famous film festival of them all, the mere mention of Cannes conjures up images of red carpets, palm trees, scantily-clad starlets, the blinding flashes of a million paparazzi cameras, and of course, celebrity parties.

COMPÉTITION :

The competition is the festival's main event and this is where you'll find all the glamour and glory. Films screening in this section are referred to as being "in competition" and vie for an assortment of awards. The Holy Grail is of course the Palme d'Or (Golden Palm) for best picture, one of the most prestigious film awards on the planet. Winning the Palme d'Or generally gives the film a massive lift: for art-house films, it can bring in millions of extra dollars at the international box-office, for foreign films it means worldwide distribution. Historically, the competition has only been open to narrative films, although occasionally a documentary is slipped in (such as Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11" which won the top prize in 2004). The competition welcomes both features and shorts, and there are different awards in each category.

3. Fashion in Film Festival London

Fashion in Film Festival (FFF) is an arts and film organisation with a biennial exhibition of film in London, New York and other cities Since its foundation in 2005, the Fashion in Film Festival (FFF) has become a leading showcase for the common ground shared by fashion and film. More than just a celebration of fashion in film, the festival encourages critical response to its content, and addresses current practices in the context of film’s long history.

Dedicated to promoting new ideas and experimentation, FFF also commissions new work in contemporary “fashion moving image”, bringing together artists, designers, photographers, filmmakers, performers and musicians.
Drawing on a rich film history and a wide variety of genres, from feature and documentary film to artist video, animation shorts and newsreels, FFF presents a mix of popular culture, art and the underground which shows how the moving image has represented and interpreted fashion as a concept, an industry and a cultural form.

Just a saying

Long vs. Short

Some women are uncertain whether they look best in long or short hair.

One of the major factors that help a woman to determine whether her hair looks best short or long is the shape of her face. A woman with a round face will need to carefully consider short hair. In this case, if the woman really wants short hair, it will need to be cut in a fashion that comes away from her face.

Oval faces look good with any hairstyle. Women with an oval face can usually wear whatever length they like. They do not have to worry about any particular style making their faces look too round, or too square. It is an ideal face type for any hairstyle desired.

Another determining factor in the short/long debate is type of hair. Women with thick hair will usually want to stick with short to medium lengths, simply because the weight of their hair may cause headaches as it gets longer.

Women with thin, fine hair may go with longer hair, simply because they need a longer style to create the illusion of fullness. Short styles may be fine for thin hair, but a woman needs to be careful that her style does not require a great deal of styling work, since this will stress her hair, and could cause damage if she has to use harsh styling products.

There are some celebrity hairstyles. I like long hair better but I have to admit that Keira or Natalie look realy great with short hair.

Which one do you think is better? Long or short. Green I like.

Keira Knightley: long / short

Sienna Miller: long / short

Natalie Portman: long / short

Drew Barrymore: long / short

Victoria Beckham: long / short

Michelle Williams: long / short

Halle Berry: long / short

Reese Witherspoon: long / short

Katie Holmes: long / short

Gwenyth Paltrow: long / short

Rihanna: long / short

Stiai ca... ?

10 rules of style

Sonia Rykiel, a great fashion designer, icon and role model to young designers and women all over the world, has been crowned the “Queen of Knits” and named “Coco Rykiel” by the American press.

Asked in an interview if her dream when she was very young was to be a fashion designer, she replyed: '' Never! --my only ambition was to have 10 children. I knew nothing about fashion, it was an accident. I married a man who was in fashion. I began to work when my daughter Nathalie was about eight or 10 years old. Then one day I began to make a sweater, and eventually the sweater was on the front page of Elle magazine. And the day after I was the queen of knit in America.''

She recently shared her '10 rules of style' in Elle Magazine

1. know yourself
"what counts is how you look at yourself ~ what you should show and what you should hide. You have to spend time in front of a mirror. Very few women pay attention to that."

2. use your head
"my style corresponds to the image i have of the left bank woman who pays attention to what's going on in the streets, in politics, in the world. clothing is also something that happens in your head."

3. remember the power of black
"black is a magnificent color ~ it gives you an outline like a pencil stroke."

4. add a little sparkle
"i love accessories ~ bags, shoes, brooches, necklaces. i even like to have a crystal comb or a flower in my hair. if you're wearing a little black dress, a sparkling detail adds a simple and pretty touch."

5. have a fail-safe outfit
"it's important to have an outfit that always works for you ~ one that you know looks good when you are in a rush."

6. learn the art of packing
"i always travel with lots of long jackets, in black, brown, or navy blue, and matching trousers. then i mix and match the jackets and the trousers."

7. let your feet do the talking
"i love eccentric, quirky shoes with colors and very high heels that are gilded or extravagantly embellished with crystals. A pretty foot underlines a look. It's a way of defining a style."

8. dress for yourself
"Of course fashion is important, but i think the way you live counts for more. A woman should be herself and dress according to who she is."

9. seduce with your style
"It's very natural to be sexy, to be seductive ~ it's a way of being. you can do much by paying careful attention to your clothes, by knowing a length or a certain color that suits you."

10. ignore other people's advice
"You shouldn't ask for other people's advice, and certainly not your partner's. It's useless. You need to know yourself ~ that's enough."

Primavara se lasa inca putin asteptata.
E rece. Soarele isi arata in continuare mandru dintii.

I feel like wearing something warm and cozy. Uggs and a big warm sweater are perfect for my mood today. Some celebrity inspiration for the days to come if the weather is not haveing in mind a pretty change.
